Together with the colleagues Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, Alexander Girard was one of the main representatives of post-war period American design. Even though its main interest was fabric design, Girard was also admired for his graphics artworks and the design of furniture and exhibition spaces. Girard introduced in the design of the 20th century a sensual playfulness that was completely absent in the austere aesthetics of the classical modernism.
Among his projects of interior design, Girard has designed several concepts destined to restaurants that ranged beyond colour combinations and furniture, up to and including details such as menus, matchboxes, accessories for the table and napkins. The patterns reported on the Coffee Mugs have their origin and inspiration from the rich variety of such spaces.
Material: thick porcelain, made by a traditional porcelain producer. Dishwasher safe. Capacity of 3 dl.
