Vitra RAR Eames Plastic Armchair - Charles & Ray Eames, 1950

Plastic Armchair was introduced for the first time to the "Low Cost Furniture Design" contest of the New York Modern Art Museum. Its ergonomic seat in synthetic material was subsequently combined to different base, for exemple to the rocking bases of RAR and produced in million of samples. The current polypropylene version gives a great comfort to these seats.

Seat: dyed polypropylene. Different seat and base colours allow a lot of possible combinations.

Options: the Eames Plastic Chair is available as visitor chair, lunch table chair, swivel chair, rocking armchair, and stacking chairs with connection bars for seat rows. The seat installed on bars are proper for the use in waiting rooms.

RAR base: base of legs made in steel wire with crossed wires and solid maple rockers (RAR = Rocking Armchair Rod Base)
